This variety of rice was named for its appearance. "Oborozuki," or "hazy moon," is only grown in Hokkaido, the northernmost island and prefecture of Japan. Its complex taste is enhanced by Hokkaido's cold winters. Once cooked, Oborozuki retains its soft, chewy texture even cooled, making it ideal for bento lunch boxes.
