This rice is grown in Myoko in southwestern Niigata Prefecture. As with Japan's other priced rice, geography plays a crucial role in the overall taste of Myoko rice; its paddy fields are fed by the snowmelt from the Five Peaks of Northern Shinano. The resulting rice has an intense fragrance and taste, making it an excellent koshihikari.
